Maine Coon Size  

The size of your cat depends on gender. The males generally get larger and can weigh up to 25 pounds. A female Maine Coon can get up to around 15 pounds. This is much larger when compared to a traditional cat. 

Both males and females grow up to around 40 inches long and up to 14 inches in height for females and 16 inches in height for males. It does take them a few years to reach full growth.

Caring For Your Cat

The Maine Coon is considered a low-maintenance cat because even though they have long hair their coat is not dense. Instead, the coat is silky and smooth, and the cat has no problem maintaining it on their own. Giving your Maine Coon a good brushing about once a week will be sufficient. 

You feed a Maine Coon cat the same as you would any other cat. Talk to your veterinarian about the best food and the right amount it should have daily. This will also depend on how old your cat is as they will not need as much when they are younger. Because these cats are large, they can get obese easily, so it is important that you follow the vet's instructions. Your vet can also show you how to brush your cat's teeth and clean their ears. 

A Maine Coon can be an outside cat but can also be an inside cat to keep it protected and clean. The cat may also be injured. For inside, purchase a tall scratching post for your cat to claw on and climb on. Make sure they have access to at least one window to look out of. Purchase your cat plenty of toys to keep them busy.
